and then you see the PAC decision makers (USC and UCLA) leave for the B1G. Could be some maneuvering going on here, and there are traitors in the midst of the PAC and the ACC as well (future defectors), influincing their conferences to vote against the plan to kill it, knowing they were going to jump to the SEC/B1G and a plan even more beneficial to the SEC/B1G (to them) could be made. Meanwhile, the SEC and B1G can look like "hey we voted for playoff expansion, but they turned it down." It sounds a little conspiracy-theorist, I know, but given the way handshake deals have been stabbed in the back here, would not surprise me.
