It’s not just fan interest. It’s also final ranking. When all those teams are playing each other, it results in more losses. You can’t have as many 9 and 10 win teams.
And it’s not necessarily the new teams that will suffer. If other teams go from being middle of the pack to bottom of the pack, will that affect their interest? It will certainly affect the rankings. It’s just a tough thing to use data from teams that were dominating other conferences or situations. It won’t be the same.
