Really, it was all in over-reaction to this perception (& narrative) that Conover was gonna hit the ground running as a talent that couldn't possibly be denied. Okay, even Saban's offer of yore couldn't overturn the fact that we all saw that Conover plainly wasn't our best QB last season. True to the coaches' evaluation, in the live game he certainly looked the part of our #3. But that certainly doesn't mean he can't be a very good D1 QB someday, either. Possibly sooner than later. (And given Jaren's injury history, we sure should hope he has it in him to be that very soon. He very well could be called upon to finish a game or two (or more) for us this season.)
