My wife and I have a very simple and healthy understanding that is now largely unspoken after years of practice. Football season is not to be messed with. I will not be forced to miss a game for anyone's wedding, reunion, vacation etc.. The rest of the year my wife has autonomy to plan whatever she wants and I will be there even if I really don't want to. It works great and we dont need a calendar. We just treat each other right.
