I am a simple man...
I just want my books to be engaging. That can mean an engaging plot, clever phrasing, interesting idea, or just entertaining. Some of my favorite books include:

Count of Monte Cristo was really good, as was A Tale of Two Cities (similar to Monte Cristo actually).
