When will we stop using the 'SIGNIFICANT injuries!' excuse? That's what it is ... an excuse. Didn't the offense have injuries too?
Tuiaki's scheme doesn't do anything to try and keep the opposing offense guessing. He HOPES the defense will limit big plays long enough for the opposing offense to make a mistake but unfortunately, good offenses are just patient and don't make enough. We're not good enough to run that against P5 teams. Guess what? We're joining a P5 conference and will have even more P5 games.
Our defense would have cost us more games had we not had a top 10 offense. I guess you missed that fact.
I'll give the defense credit for the utah, Utah St, and Idaho St games. The defense wasn't horrible in the Boise St game but didn't do much to help us win when the offense and special teams couldn't hold onto the ball.
We've had outstanding DL in the past so what's different now? Lame recruiting and coaching is the answer. Hmm ... wonder which coach is directly over the DL? Same guy using a high school defensive scheme (which is probably why you identify with it so well).
What shows you that Tuiaki is anything more than a below average DC? Why do you think BYU can't do any better?
Btw ... who is 'coach E'?
