Best sports league I've ever seen is the LA adult basketball rec league.

They had actual shootings occur after disputes between teams and officials, so they made two simple rules:

1- You can't communicate with a ref in any way unless it's a whisper that only the ref can hear (refs actually do like to hear what players are seeing that the ref might not be seeing, but want it communicated in a respectful way).

2 - No trash talking to the other team

First offense, team forfeits the game and player is gone for the season

Second offense, team is gone for the season.

It worked beautifully. Maybe we should do that in your league.
