It’s difficult to credibly critique the officiating
If you have no, or very little, prior officiating experience.

When you are a paid official, you go to clinics, camps, meetings, reviews. You aren’t a fan of the game anymore, you are a professional who is mastering a craft. You are taught the proper way to officiate and the proper way to enforce the rules.

The casual fan has little idea about proper officiating. Even those with playing experience but who have never officiated often don’t understand officiating well.

The advice from a wise mentor, “stick with what you know!” If you want good content, you have to be better than the next guy and you have to know more than the next guy. But you are no different than the next casual fan who doesn’t have officiating experience either.
