I'm sorry, correct me if I've misunderstood, but are you suggesting that there
are some current staff members which are qualified to be promoted to DC and that giving them more Big12 money will be the game changer for BYU's defensive woes?

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you that there are some qualified candidates currently on staff, but my question would be where were they and their influence throughout the season?

Particularly, after Tuiaki stepped down, wouldn't that have been a prime opportunity for one of these potential DCs on staff to step up and audition for the role?

You may have better inside knowledge, but by all public accounts, Sitake took over the DC duties without much change. Why wouldn't he have leaned on one of these potential on staff candidates, and if he did, were the defensive adjustments and improvements over the last few games enough to justify an on staff promotion?

I'm just an outsider with some decent football playing and coaching experience at lower levels, but based upon what I've observed and heard myself, greater change is warranted and needed than a current staff promotion to DC. At least in order to see marked improvements, to potentially include the most glaring issue, imo, which may end up being year to year player retention and recruiting.

If a current staff member is promoted to DC and all we see is more of the same, CB will likely lose their collective minds and we'll begin to see fans and boosters in the transfer portal. Kalani and Tom have got to get this one right!

If it's a current staff member, so be it. Kalani and Tom obviously have more on the line than any of us do, but good luck to them all! They'll probably need it.
