The importance of age in drafting QBs is more about development remaining than about pending end-of-career
Because of that, it's obviously less an issue than at RB/WR etc, but it's also not something that can be completely dismissed.

I suspect the early bowl date preference had more to do with getting the new staff going with recruiting and such
