He was never heard of again. However, decades later, a woman claiming to be his daughter got in contact over the internet with some of the family. She even came to visit some of his family briefly, but they're still unsure what happened to him. He obviously decided not to become a priest and then had a family and never mentioned it to his parents or siblings. Weird all around.
