Sadly I disagree for the most part for at least BYU. The academic rigor at BYU
makes it vary hard for most student athletes to major in what they would like. You have to apply to get into most majors at BYU and it is very hard to get in the programs with the core class GPA required. The amount of time you have to spend if you are a football player is outrageous making it very difficult to compete in both the classroom and on the field for most players. Most are not majoring in Business, Engineering, Silences or may other majors. This is why sadly a lot end up majoring in sociology, phycology, Polly Science, exercise science or the like. There is nothing wrong with those majors if that is what you want to do but to say they get the best education I am not sure for what they may want to do. I guess in your GE's they are getting a very good education. I would agree with this statement for a school like Stanford, as there all you have to do is declare your major and you are in the program and doing what you want with world renown professors. Other schools are not as difficult to get into programs so they are getting an education in the field you prefer. I would hope every athlete get the best education but unfortunately it is not true for most. You do have some that can do both and go on to be Dr's and so on.
