A little off, but ok....
Giving a man a fish may be kind, but taking the time to teach them how to fish, however long it takes, is an act of Charity and greater love.
Creating a boundary-less society (or a safer place for people to destroy themselves) to make a few feel more comfortable in poor decision making isn't compassionate, it is damning.
It helps us with our guilt, but it doesn't help them out.
We still get some credit though for trying.
