Regarding the U of U male cheerleader that’s getting attention on social media and around the country, please treat him with respect and kindness.

Though he probably doesn’t read Cougarboard, these things have a way to getting back to folks. Though many of us would not have an interest to do what he’s doing, it takes courage on his part to do it knowing how some will react or see it especially in a more traditional state like ours. A whole lot of courage in fact.

I believe he’s been participating for two season’s now and I’ve respected what he’s doing all along. I’m also proud of the University of Utah for giving him the opportunity to join the cheer team.

Again, he deserves to be treated with respect and kindness as a human being. This is what freedom and free agency looks like.
