It's really too bad no former HC could've established a culture & system for that sorta recruiting 30 years back, let alone 10.
(And, no, the occasional circumstantial exception IS NOT at all what I'm talking about. The Tyrell Lydays, Anson Winders & Rafael Araujos were too few & far between. And even then, only one of those guys from off the top of my head WASN'T a transfer. And yet Mr. Winder wasn't nearly the level of HS recruit that could possibly make an immediate impact. If I remember right, he was the 2rd or 3rd best Sr coming outa Bishop Gorman the year he graduated (& there were also a couple underclassmen on Gorman clearly better than him at the time). He's wasn't a kid Pope would even think of recruiting.)
