Pull above median as you’re competing with a lot of docs not able to work hard (moms), not wanting to work hard, not capable of working hard, who are just doofuses or who are vastly undertrained. Any MD can be as busy as they want in todays world regardless of midlevels.
Obviously there’s always downward pressures on physician incomes but there’s ways to counter that so total comp doesn’t drop dramatically for the vast majority of docs. Now those with one income stream and complete hospital dependence (ER for example) than I would be a whole lot more nervous about comp going forward.
