to check in at "12pm." I asked her if she meant noon or midnight. She said, "I meant 12pm." I asked, "noon"? She hasn't gotten back to me.

By definition you're trying to use, you'd be saying that at precisely noon (12:00:00) it's AM, but at 12:00:01 it's PM

Most countries use the 24 hour clock. Avoids all confusion. 0000 is not 1200
