So your check in is after 5 PM and you are trying to figure out what 12 pm means

If it meant midnight she would not be requesting an exception since midnight is after 5 PM. This is in addition to 12 PM means noon for most people. Lastly a midnight check in would be less likely than a noon check in. The fact she is requesting to check in at 12 pm sounds like she is requesting an early check at noon. I have not seen all of the communication, however.

By definition you're trying to use, you'd be saying that at precisely noon (12:00:00) it's AM, but at 12:00:01 it's PM

Most countries use the 24 hour clock. Avoids all confusion. 0000 is not 1200
