RE: 9 out of 37 homes in our new subdivision have flooded according to an email
As a broker, the typical homeowner's policy doesn't cover "outside water" coming into the home. We have had a lot of people already having issues with this same thing in our area, its going to get worse. Out of the 15 different companies I write for, only 1 company offers coverage for flood water (outside water) and that this coverage is part of the main homeowner's policy making it like $20 for the year and this is not a separate, "stand-alone" or "flood policy" which these types of policies tend to be really expensive. If you have Auto-Owners, make sure that you have this coverage added. if you add it today, its a 30 day waiting period before coverage starts. I added mine last week.
