This is correct. I consider Y plates and Y decals for my vehicles most years-

especially for my white van which would look great with my cougar blue. Ultimately I back off every time because while I don't think hardly any Ute fans would do anything to my car, but I have encountered several I'm confident would if timing and circumstances played out wrong for everyone. Why be a target? Just not worth the risk.
