My suggestion is to exchange a little in the airport, but you get better exchange rates most of the time through ATMs.

It’s nice to have some on you when you first arrive, but I wouldn’t exchange more than maybe $100 in the airport at one of the money changer booths.

Also, at this point many credit cards have no foreign transaction fees. Check yours and use credit cards more than cash.

Why do you need cash? I almost never get foreign currency. Maybe a little. But use the CC as much as you can.
