IMO part of the appeal was that he wasn’t a great guitar player. Part of the DIY
down with the man kind of thing.
It’s apparent now that Dave Grohl was the talented one in the band. Probably one of the best drummers in the world, a phenomenal guitarist, and he has about the perfect voice for a rock band you’re ever gonna find.
