Total money grab
He's basically had the red carpet at BYU...got minutes super young, played literally as much as he wanted every game, and is essentially guaranteed a starting spot for the rest of his career at BYU.
The team also HAD an incredibly bright future while he was supposedly debating hitting the portal.
Given all of that, the only reason he'd consider the portal in those circumstances is money. Can't say I blame him...we all know these guys get bombarded with exaggerated NIL offers even before they get into the portal. If I got offered 6 figures to transfer somewhere, it would be tempting
