They lived very frugal their entire lives and didn't enjoy their hard work. A nice vacation or a home remodel would have been nice.
By the time they both passed their estate was worth about two million to be split among kids who at the time were doing well and didn't need it. However, the money could have greatly benefited the kids 15 years prior. One kid especially has a lot of medical issues. Trying to make it on his own led to bankruptcy, when my parents could have easily relieved some of his hardships.
