I liked him but felt BYU was locked into another Kalani Sitake, a good but will never be great coach. Pope is good enough that he could have remained in the job for a long time, condemning the school to an "also ran" future. We'll see if KY is better but at least there is the possibility that he can be.
A classy guy would be unconcerned about any liabilities associated with doing the right thing.
