Smack'sWife All-American
My grandma had it; spent lots of time gardening (to avoid buying groceries at the coal mine's company store); she
got treatment and was fine.

My dad has had it more than once; has always refused to wear sunscreen and often got sunburned; he's recovered (although the surgeries on the skin on his forehead were quite...impressive).

Because I have melanoma on both sides, since high school I've always put sunscreen on my face every morning, and if I'm going to be outside in the middle of the day for hours, I put it on all my exposed skin.

I hardly ever burn, and growing up in the 70's and 80's sunscreen was just barely becoming "a thing," so sunscreen wasn't as much of a habit when I was growing up (became more so with my younger siblings). However, as a parent, I always sprayed it on my kids when we were going to be outside for a while.
