Sure hope he proves that conclusion wrong. Granted some mistakes, and two big
ones, but that small of a sample size does not definitive conclusions make, IMO. Sure hope all of us are not judged that definitively on our worst stretch of any endeavor, or on our biggest blunders.
I'm really glad Detmer was not definitively judged after his 5 int performance in a loss to Oregon. He would go on to be one the best QB's in NCAA history. Patience, and perseverance, in this "what-have-you-done-for-me-lately" world is commonly rewarded.
