I suspect it is "working" for very, very few athletes.
Last I saw, a huge % of athletes who go into the portal do not end up at a D1 school. I assume the number who land at a D1 school and get a truly big NIL is a small number.

NIL deals? No. Just paying for play or some revenue sharing makes the most sense. Has nothing to do with NIL.
