Something similar happened to me at Ricks out of Highschool.. The bottom line. Its a cruel and tough job to be a D-1 Coach. You can't always do what you say b/c sometimes it becomes impossible. No one really knows the kind of pressure and stress on a coach and certainly a promise to give a scholarship a year down the road is nothing more than a castle in the sky..

Its sad if it happened that way, but every D-1 school operates the same. Handshakes mean nothing b/c noone knows what it will be like 1 year down the road..

A handshake is like saying, "I'll give you a scholarship, IF circumstances don't change and everything goes as planned"..

Sorry to hear about it. Just remember, the program has to grow and it is not always easy to make the decisions that will help it grow.
