BCS wins has been the measure of success in CFB

over that past decade, at least. This is even more true for non-BCS schools such as Utah, BSU, TCU, and BYU. People on CB use that as a measure of success because that is the overall perception of success everywhere. Most people don't care about firesides, WAC championships, or whatever.
