You could do live essay writing
The alum just gives them the essay question and watches them write it, then its turned over to the school for evaluation by people who don't know the student.
That sounds like too much work to be, but that is the level of effort you would need to put in to get essays that are worth taking seriously as insights into the applicant.

It’s really not. Too many kids are going to BYU in spite of what it stands for and not because of it.

This would be a good data point, except seminary teachers are so inconsistent. Some are all in on the rec, some couldn't
