This is the weirdest conversation I think I've ever had. How does requiring
Essays further BYU's mission? It doesn't. Frankly, your staunch defense of the essays as a meaningful part of the admissions process suggests that you are the type to write your own kids' essay and turn it in as his or her work.

It’s really not. Too many kids are going to BYU in spite of what it stands for and not because of it.
