Blue streak 3rd String
I'm just glad this is being discussed. A lot of false notions flying around
and we need to consider the best path forward. I know the MW or any other G5 may feel like a step back, but it may be a better path to home games, NY6 games, national exposure, and P5 inclusion. Some of the negatives may be exaggerated as well, as conference commitments can be negotiated (see Boise who gets to keep its ESPN cash, or Texas that gets an outsized portion of the conference revenue).

On the other hand, Indy has been good for many reasons as well, and we've had some very memorable games we otherwise couldn't have scheduled. But it is difficult to break in diamond in the rough talent (that we need to recruit because we're not P5 and have the honor code) against a murderers row of P5 teams in September, only to get the confidence building games to end the season. November scheduling nearly always stinks and we back out of the year into a lackluster bowl game every year. Can Indy do what we want it to? Possibly. But it is worth considering the options as well. G5 sure has helped other schools with a similar profile to BYU, I'm not sure we should ignore it as an option out of blind pride.
