A couple thoughts
That story doesn't contradict the notion that "Utah were so "dialed in" to Anae's "predictable" offense that they may as well have been in the huddle". Lets call this the Anae Theory.

First, the fact that Whitt preferred to have Anae on staff in a Co-OC and mentor position could be viewed as supporting the Anae Theory. Second, the fact that no other teams were interested in Anae as an OC also could be considered support for the Anae Theory. Thirdly, Anae being a better OC than BJ does not mean the Anae Theory is invalid. Much like a Ford Taurus being a better car than a Yugo does not make the Taurus a sports car.

Whether or not the Anae Theory is valid, this story does not provide evidence that it is invalid.

As for Erickson the comparison to Reid is quite flawed. Reid had several NFL franchises very interested in his services. Erickson on the other hand has been on a downward trend. He's not particularly in demand. I agree with his ego being a huge issue, but it's not completely unthinkable that an OC position, even shared, may be the best he can get right now. My money is that if Erickson goes to Utah it will be as a full OC, and my money is against that. So yes Utah fans are most likely delusional, but it's a far more realistic scenario than Reid to BYU ever was.
