My own rule as a mover is to only commit to a certain amount of time
And I rarely commit to more than an hour. If you're there until everything is done then they'll keep giving you crap to do or they won't be very prepared. And even if they're not prepared, I'm still only staying an hour.

I also don't understand why 95% of moves don't have movers budgeted into the cost of moving. You're buying a house, redoing the carpet or painting the inside, renting a Uhaul, taking time off from work, buying packing supplies, etc. Why not factor in $200-300 for movers to load and unload a truck? I do understand that there are those who truly lack the resources, but those are definitely the exception.
