See tarheeledcoug's post above. Lol.
I understand what you are saying, but I think that you're only taking parts of the stoops interview, rather than all of the comments. Yes, he said that there are patsies in any conference, but he has clearly said that his conference is just as good as the sec, and his evidence is that the sec supposedly doesn't play as tough a schedule as people claim. He focuses on the record the lesser teams had against the better teams, not taking into account the success those same lesser teams have and out of conference. Again, steele's analysis proves this.
He as also upset that Saban called their bowl game a good consolation prize.
In addition, while a Baylor has had some recent success in the big 12, the reality of the big 12 is similar to the big 10. Meaning, there are really only a couple teams at the top, and the others are simply pretenders who climb the mountain every now and again, but are not long term successes. The sec, on the other hand, isn't dominated by a ou/Texas or ohio state/michigan. My goodness, you're talking about a conference that has own national championships in the last ten years with lsu, Florida, bama, and auburn! That's unprecedented.
Clearly, the sec has it's lower teams. Every conference does. But they are so strong at the top that their few lower teams are really irrelevant to the conversation. But even the lower teams still compete on a higher level . Remember, stoops himself is touting playing Tennessee. Heck, our beloved byu was excited about eeking out a win against a last place ole miss.
