While any ranking system is going to be somewhat arbitrary, Capital One Cup

ranks BYU #43 overall in college athletics, and this includes several FCS or non-P5 schools taking up space ahead of BYU, such as North Dakota State, UConn, Denver, Towson, Eastern Washington, New Mexico, Eastern Illinois, Loyola-Chicago, UC-Irvine, and Union College. If you were to omit these schools, BYU would be ranked #33 among P5 schools in overall athletics, above average of the 67 schools of the P5 including BYU and Notre Dame.
