the following week and then 58-56 to USU. Then we lost 20-48 to Notre Dame, or something like that. IIRC, we broke the losing streak by beating SDSU 48-45. So the defense gave up 45+ five games in a row. We started the season 4-0 and finished 6-6. That UCLA game took our defense to a dark place.

Yet somehow, most fans blamed Walsh for the 6-6 finish! Can you imagine, if our defense gave up 45+ points for five games in a row this season???
