...FSU made our receivers look like pussies. They pressed us, abused us, and bullied us.
We've had some bad and traumatic losses before. But never did I see us get outclassed, outworked, out-manned etc. like that FSU loss. It was shocking to not only fans, but I think to our coaches and athletic director as well. It has changed the foundation, focus, and trajectory of the way we recruit.
In that regard it was one of the best losses our program could have had in that we woke up and realized we needed to seriously upgrade team speed, our toughness on offense (particularly at receiver), and get legitimate athletes at skill positions. We still aren't there, but we are light-years ahead of where we were.
And frankly the hiring of Guy Holliday and being able to better cope with man-press coverage this year better than any other year I can remember (ala Jordan Leslie), has been a HUGE boost to our program.
