I have 4 kids and I spend 2 hours 4 nights a week doing homework. Half hour each child while my wife prepares for her class. This is her first year teaching 3rd grade. She spends 4-5 hours every night preparing.
Homework used to be my wife's thing and I rarely helped. I have really enjoyed spending the extra time with my kids. They also read for 30 minutes before bed. They all love that 30 minutes because we moved bedtime back 30 minutes and they see it as bonus time. It is hard to deal with a kid pushing back. I have 1 of those. We solved that by giving him the same amount of video game time as homework time.
