This was his day today.
After school and chores he had about 15 minutes to relax before it was off to football practice. After that, he had swimming lessons. On the way home he says, "I just want to go to bed when I get home".

I said, what about your homework? He said he would do it tomorrow. So, we get home, eat dinner, he decided to do his homework. So we did his homework.

All in all, he had maybe an hour of free time today. Granted, today was somewhat rare, but even on a normal day he doesn't get more than 3 hours of down time.

I get it, you disagree and want your kids to have every moment filled with teaching. I can respect that even if I disagree. However, why should that extra hour of time be mandated by the school? Surely you can come up with your own activities for a kid if you insist on him learning. It shouldn't be mandated from school.

Like it was stated by someone else on here earlier, teachers are basically hired to help teach your kids. If so, why does their time have to encroach on my own personal parenting of my child?
