I guess you forgot the first few years they were in their big new conferences
TCU is doing pretty well this year. I don't follow them enough to know whether this is an anomoly or not. Utah is doing well this year ... for the first time since they joined the Pac10. Honestly trying to take nothing away from them, their schedule is a bit overrated. Beating Michigan this year is not even as impressive as winning at Texas this year. Oregon State has always been very up and down year to year. Winning at UCLA is a good win and their yearly signature big win they get up for, but even UCLA was highly overrated. They were never a top 10 team. So Utah is a good team. We were at least similar before half our starters get sidelined with injuries.

So to say that Utah and TCU are way ahead of BYU is not true. It might be trending that way this year now that we lost half our team, but that's just it: there wasn't this huge disparity in coaching or talent until all the injuries. Are we deep enough to handle all these injuries, obviously not.

You might have a point if you just wanted one special season like several other teams have had. But Utah and TCU are not running way ahead of us when it comes to overall program strength and perception nationally.
