Given that finding a replacement is not a trivial matter, let me ask you this
Can you think of any coach in BYU basketball history who was truly better than Rose? Watts may seem like the easy answer, but looking at his records, plenty of coaches with multiple losing records like he had wouldn't survive today. Since the 70s, is there any coach at BYU who you would rank ahead of Rose?
