We were dropping my daughter off at BYU one year and I thought I'd run over to the stadium and catch the team leaving practice (it was a closed practice). I was too late and everybody had already left.

So I walked into the stadium and had a seat, probably on about the 20 or 30 yard line, several rows up. There was a guy standing in the endzone talking on the phone. When he finished, he started walking to the tunnel and I realized it was Bronco. I had no intention of engaging him and he was looking at the ground as he walked so I didn't think he'd even see me.

But he looked up and saw me (clearly a fan with my BYU hat on). He got a big grin on his face and spent a couple minutes talking to me. He genuinely seemed enjoy spending a moment talking to a fan. It was just me and him. No witnesses. No showing off to the media or anything like that.

So when I hear people say "Bronco hates fans" I just roll my eyes.
