My understanding is that the pharisee comment was made as a tongue-in-cheek comment - but people see it in print and it doesn't come across that way. And like I said in another thread above... he has never said anything negative about fans that leave, other than to say he wishes that fans would stay. He's saying what he wishes fans would do - that isn't being critical of, much less insulting, the opposite behavior.
