The pharisee comment was made in a Cougar Club luncheon IIRC and not to the general fan base.
The other comment was 'the level of criticism usually matches the level of education and the fans, the people it comes from'.
That comment is accurate and applies to many areas IMO. Some of the most vocal critics of the Rio Tinto stadium before it was built were the most uninformed on the issues surrounding it. Gordon Monson claimed that Bronco was calling ALL of BYU's fans uneducated which was not even remotely the case.
