I think you are marginalizing the effects of ending someones life. Especially
when more often than not if could have been avoided. There are obvious outliers and its your home, life and family so you can obviously do as you please. But to go in shooting and hope for the best seems irresponsible. There are an infinite amount of different circumstances such as where they are in the house, what type of area you live in, recent events in neighborhood and even nationally, who's at home etc ... but as a general rule I think shoot first ask questions later is a bad idea.
