Look at the 1981 US Hockey team if you need an example of that. It's about being fundamentally sound and knowing what you have and how to use it. Sure, talent should beat someone without talent every single time... should, but it doesn't happen all the time. You can not convenience me that Utah was more talented than Alabama in 2008. You cannot convenience me that Appalachian State is of even equal talent of Michigan in 2007. You telling me that Georgia Southern is more talented than Florida in 2013?
A great coach, even a good coach, can take a team that isn't as talented as the one they are going to face, and coach it up. It's what Lavell was... he surrounded himself was good and great coaches and they look a bunch of kids that probably wouldn't have made most other teams, and turned them into winners. Ty freaking Detmer won the Heisman trophy by throwing the ball to who?
That's what good coaching does... don't under estimate it because of what you see that we have. Howell has absolutely ZERO business even being a high school head football coach, let alone a defensive coordinator at the division 1 FBS level. NONE!
