USU is similar to UTEP in '85. We were ranked,
Talked about routinely on national talk shows as the "most likely to go undefeated", NY6 bowl potential was being tossed around, and not by just CB.

Then we get destroyed.....at home....vs a team we never lost to in Provo in my lifetime.

Sure, it was bound to happen someday, but not to a ranked BYU team vs a scrappy USU on what....their 4th QB?

Taysom's injury shrouded the real issue. We probably would have still lost big had he been healthy. Our D was exposed and the next not very good teams took advantage. It took UNLV to get us bowl eligible.

We talk B12, but this "NY6 team" is 1-fer in the MWC....let that sink in.

Injuries are a part of football. It's the coaches responsibility to have the depth needed to overcome.

I wouldn't consider BYU a NY6 team with their stars down, we've tarely had "P5 depth", but even injury ridden squads could compete in the MWC. We had two seasons where we couldn't, and that coach resigned. That coach had injuries too, but his third string..john beck..ended up in the NFL.

Our fourth string goes to SUU and ends up in the NFL while our coaches are trying to decide between heaps and Nelson......that's pretty telling right there..
