The last 5 seasons evidence a pattern
Sure every year has its challenges, but the last 5 seasons I think are a big enough sample size to show us what we get with Bronco: a clean program with a winning record, but one that will seldom be much better than average.

What's changed since 2009 is a bit academic since I think the last several seasons are, pretty convincingly, the now-established norm for BYU under Bronco. But in my opinion it's a few things:

-Lack of talent - I just don't think Bronco's recruiting is up to snuff
-Poor talent evaluation - Riley Nelson, anybody?
-Poor coaching - revolving door assistant coaches, baffling gametime decisions, a gameplan that never seems to get adjusted, inability to play from behind; these are all hallmarks of Bronco's recent teams
Losing the team - I don't see the same passion I used to see in Bronco's earlier seasons. For whatever reason I don't think Bronco is able to motivate his players the way he used to.

That's my take, for what it's worth. But the 'why' really isn't the point. Here we are, consistently mediocre. Either you think that every year is the exception (and next year we'll have that silver bullet) or you accept that this is where we're at, and where we're likely to stay, under Bronco.
